In the column “Plants and Health” in the show “Rreze Dielli” on Report TV with the specialist of medicinal plants Ylli Merja, we stopped at one of the products with many great health values, honey. The health benefits of honey are scientifically proven and it is not for nothing that it is known as ‘liquid gold’.

According to the medical plant specialist Ylli Merja, 1 kg of honey contains:

· 30-40 gr of healing substances such as enzymes, coenzymes, microelements in % more than any product

· Flavonoids and antioxidants

· Antibacterial hydrogen peroxide

Contains 6 species of lactobacilli and 4 species of bifidobacteria, which explain the healing mystery

· Organic acids of this magical healer penetrate the deepest tissues of the body

· Honey and mainly chestnut honey is very rich in minerals, iron, vitamin B and C, phenolic acids that inhibit aging

But how should honey be used without losing its nutritional value? What are some of the mistakes that consumers often make? First, to preserve honey with all its values, it must be kept in glass jars, in dark and cold environments, as it can develop mold over time. Also, due to the many enzymes it contains, honey should not be stirred with a metal spoon but with a wooden spoon. The biggest mistake that consumers make with honey is that they dissolve it directly in tea or hot milk. In this way, we lose part of its components, so it is advisable to dissolve the honey first in another container and then add it to tea or milk.

Careful! Honey should not be given to children from 0-3 years old, because it contains tubulin (substance like snake venom) which is produced in honey by Clostridium bacteria and children cannot handle it.
